How We Make Power
The fuel and ignition curve is optimized for 89 octane or better fuel, torque limiters are raised to a safe level. Electronic throttle bodies are controlled to allow 100% air flow when present. Manufacturers are known use the exact same engine for multiple horsepower models and simply detune them for the lower HP models. This allows Outboard EFI to easily get to the max HP and slightly beyond. ECU’s can quickly be programmed to higher horsepower using our computer program. The peak performance tune is selected then the ECU is re-calibrated.

Chances are your modern outboard is massively detuned. Most manufacturers only make a handful of engines and detune higher horsepower models to create more engine power levels. We have a full library of most modern Suzuki and Yamaha calibrations along with full performance versions.
